A cloaked figure stood amidst the grassy opening, holding naught but a staff. The sun beat down on her back as she held her staff out before her. She seemed to be pondering something. Just like that, she spun her staff in her fingers and slammed it back behind her so that dust flew up. Spinning around, taking no measures to ensure that her staff remained in place, the grass shifted as the staff was pulled back behind the woman. A strong gust blew, blowing the woman's hood down. The woman, standing in the middle of the feild, was Hinako.
The green-eyed girl slammed her staff into the ground before her, the brown wood leaving a blur behind it as it swung, the sound of the wind blasting into anyone within an earshot's ears, and the grass beneath it shifting. The brown-haired woman lifted her staff so it and her arm formed a straight line, and then she swung it.
"Ha!" She called whenever she swung the staff. After a few minutes of nonstop staff swinging, she finally stopped, planting her staff on the ground and sitting beside it. Her hand reached up to the middle of the wooden staff.
"I can't stay this way," Hinako said to herself. "Dammit, I can't stay this way."
She stood up again, lifting her leg and snapping her leg out in a kick. From the kick, she spun around, kicking the air behind her with her other leg. "Hah, hah!"
That wasn't the end of it. She unleashed a flurry of kicks into the air, once again, she appeared as a mash of blurred motion, of fabric folds and a black spec on the grassy hill. Black among the green and blue. Finally, she stopped. She fell onto the ground and stared at the sky. She cursed herself for not being able to keep this up for as long as she would like. That's when she heard footsteps.
"Who's there?" The girl's voice was not commanding like it had been in the past, but instead it was welcoming. It was obvious. This rogue, this former slave, this theif, was waiting to be found.

Athjin was out for a walk, the sun was beating down on his leather clothing, it was a bother seem, he was getting hot and his hair was some what sticky now. urg his good looks where getting missed up, that was a trouble seem all around, his booth made soft crinkle sounds onto the grass since his weigh was pushing it down the grass, He was just going out for a walk not taking in anything around him, his senses where like a normal human, that was some what sad, he was just looking around the nice area taking in the tree's and a few other things he noticed someone maybe two..he wasnt to sure, but he still didn't care, it was more of a fact he was hoping night would appear soon, he didnt like the day that much to much light, and some times it was to hot. he stoped and brought up his right hand and runs it threw his thick black hair, when he moves it out of his eyes he looks straight up into the sun, his dark eyes some what soften, He relaxs and just stands there for a moment, he brings down his hand and paces it on his right hip hiting his hand off his sword hilt. he may be just a human right now but he still was a master swords men. If he ran into trouble what he hoped for not.
He lets out a sigh and takes another step forward and senses maybe he was geting watched, oh he hated this feeling he took another breath and turned to look around as he came out of the tree line and seen a young women. Hrm, fresh meat..no thats not the way to think silly me. he thought for a moment and he brought up his left hand and waved a little. just a little, he bary moved his hand. "Mmm she would make a lovly hunter in the night. Hello there miss..Pretty day isnt it?" His voice was smooth and slow but had a hidden lust be hind it. he couldnt influence her it was day time. well damn

The Versian Army was mobilizing to take over the continent, and Penny had been assigned to scouting duty along with her spotter, Edgar Arkham, and two regular army soldiers, both equipped with machine guns. Edgar knew good Continental Speech, so he was also acting as their envoy to the people in the field. So, for their scouting duties they were given a Jeep, two refills of Gasoline in the trunk, and an area to scout. This area was marked on the map as the "Battle Meadow", and was a place between the two cities. As such, it was imperative that the area was sealed off so that they would be isolated from one another. About an hour and a half into the scouting they caught a view of a silhouette in the distance, with another silhouette not far away. Doctrine stated that they must speak with every native they see, attempting to recruit civilians and eliminating enemy troops, so they dutifully drove toward the pair.
The Engine of the Jeep was making a loud roar as the vehicle approached the two at what to them would be a staggering rate of forty miles an hour, and so they caught up with the two of them within two minutes. When they arrived, Penny, Edgar, and one of the soldiers exited the car and approached the two, with the last soldier waiting inside the car with his weapon loaded and ready to use at a moment's notice. Penny had a pistol in a holster, but she left her sniper rifle in the jeep for safe keeping, and as such both her and Edgar were only equipped with pistols, although the army regular had his machine gun loaded. Edgar, being the one who spoke the language, obviously spoke first. "Sir and Madam, don't be overly alarmed by our presence, we have no intention of harming you. We are members of the Imperial Army of Versha, who has descended upon this impoverished continent in an effort to improve the standard of living of the people living here, in addition to overthrowing the governments that keep you so impoverished. We offer full citizenship in the Nation of Versha to all that would provide our army any support that they can, whether it is information of the land or a place to quarter our troops. Also, should you join our army in the struggle to bring civil rights and amenities to your continent, you will be given training with the latest in military technology and weapons to use for yourselves, in addition to title and land when the war is over." Penny stood there with impassive eyes, staring into the faces of the locals. In Vershian, she spoke to her spotter. "Edgar, you forgot to introduce us properly, you should remember that next time." Edgar replied in Versian "I'm sorry, Ma'am." Penny, temporarily ignoring her spotter, turned to the pair that was before her, and introduced herself in what limited Continent speech she knew. "Major Penny Derris, 5th division Versian army sniper corps. What is your names?"

"Hello there miss..Pretty day isnt it?"
"Does it matter if the day is nice or not? Sun or rain, sweltering heat or frozen cold, I'm doomed to be in the outdoors anyways," Hinako said, starting to turn her attention back to where it had been: Her staff. That was until she heard the sound of an engine roaring. She looked curiously at the machine. She looked curiously at the large, threatening sort of metal that appeared to be some sort of firearm. Hinako hadn't ever seen a gun before, and, as such, she could not be sure what it was. When the man and the woman emerged from the vehicle, and spoke of their plans to search for recruits, wanting to overthrow the goverments, Hinako was skeptical.
"And why exactly do you think that it is necassary for you to join in this war? You foreigners, who doubtfully know a thing of the situation here," Hinako said with a blank expression. What she said was true, they shouldn't logically know what the situation was. That was why Hinako wanted someone to find her. She supposed that the woman's language skills weren't very well adapted to this continent, and that Hinako's expression and tone of voice may have let off what Hinako was trying to say, without the actual words.
"Hinako Ashin," Hinako said when asked for her name. "Or more specifically, nobody. Nobody important at the very least."

Athjin some what enjoyed the answer he got and let out a slighty laugh just before he heard it, a loud noise of a truck, he turns his head just barley his hand sliped over his sword just barley not even noticing it even happened. a little cocky smile comes over his after all the talking was over, he was still hot and was not in the mood for such small talk.
"AH the army folk. such none sense. Do you really think those guns well save you all. and bring this place peace?"
His voice remained its calm and smooth self, the young lady was good looking but that didnt matter, maybe for a bite to drink. that could be fun. oh jeez get off your self you prev he thought to him self for just a moment..or maybe two. who could say. he leans back a little. he had been in alot of battes.
"besides i hear over 1500 years ago there was all ready a war breaking out and nothing helped then. What is your goal line...The name is Shen."
He was lieing but these morons wouldnt be able to read his mind like his own children.

The two of them spoke, and Edgar translated their words into Versian for Penny, who was the highest-ranking officer there. "Ma'am, the girl asked why we foreigners thought it necessary to join the war when we would not have any real idea about the situation. The man asked if we believe our guns will save us and free these people, and that apparently this war has, according to common knowledge, been going on for the last fifteen-hundred years, and he wants to know our goals on this continent. Oh yes, their names are Hinako Ashin and Shen." Penny quickly went through the backlog of propaganda she had been taught to use for a variety of situations, and quickly selected a response to both of their questions. In Versain, she spoke again to her spotter.
"Tell the girl that we are descending upon the continent because it is our civil duty to uplift these people, who's way of life has gone unchanging without innovation for thousands of years. Tell her that the farmers in the fields plow the same way now as they did a thousand years ago, and will continue to do so for the next thousand years if we do not intervene and improve the lot of these people with our technology, advanced medical care, and Industry. As for the Male, tell him that whatever rudimentary firearms he has seen are absolutely nothing compared to the destructive might of our tanks and artillery. Also add in that the difference between a century and a half ago and now is the technology we bring to the battlefield, which has the power to eliminate an entire platoon of men in a single strike from a distance of miles, and what can these people do in return? Finally, as for our goal in this continent, we have already explained this, tell him that, as previously stated, our goal is to improve the lot of these people, overthrow their oppressive monarchies, and step in as a benefactor for the people of this continent." Edgar, not being an idiot, knew to remove anything that may have been insulting when he relayed these answers to the two of them.
(OOC: No, I am NOT Re-typing all of that out, just assume that what Penny said in Versian was what Edgar said to you guys in continent-speak, minus the words that might offend and without the condescending attitude)

"As I said before, you outsiders have no logical way of knowing about the situation at hand. You haven't lived here your whole lives. You haven't been through the worst of times only to find that hardship never stops at a certain level. You haven't had to force your way out of the lowest of positions only to end up in a place where you're still just a lowly lifeform who is nothing. A nobody," Hinako said. "You haven't had to steal to survive, and yet you claim that you are here to help?"
Getting into a battle stance, Hinako's face grew serious. Her knees were bent, her feet apart, her staff held ready to be flung out for attack, or in for defense. She knew that she had just made a grim mistake, telling anyone that she was indeed a theif. She wasn't the kind of theif that had hundreds of people searching for her, although through her petty theft, she had managed to gain some infamy.
Not to mention they had seen her face, her green eyes, no doubt the cresent on her staff. If they found reason to attack her, there would be trouble. And then there was the odd native, the stranger who see had just met. If they didn't attack her, there was a chance that he might. This was bad. Or at least it could wind up that way.

Athjin some hat sighs as he hears the stupid little girl run her mouth off but sadly she as right, he bring shis hand don unto his sword hilt and slowly unsheaths his blade his eyes turn over to look over at the man, his eyes remained calm as he new the little girl didnt want to fight and she also thought he would attack her, so upseting thinking i was a dark person, her actions here easy to read so. he bring shis blade by his right hip holding his blade ready to block or attack.
"Sadly She is right there. You better leave now."
His voice was deep and he was a little angry at this matter. He sighs a little to be a little disappointed he was draged into this.

(OOC: Sorry for the delay, I'll do my best to actually post from now on. Sorry again.) Penny could only catch a few words that the two natives before her has spoken, but actions speak louder then words. The Machine gunner that was with Penny and Edgar immediately trained his machine gun upon the man with the sword, seeing him as the bigger threat, while the man in the car had long since swapped out his machine gun out for a rifle, which was also now trained upon Athjin. Edgar instinctively backed up out of the path of the bullets, and quickly spoke in Vershian to Penny. "Ma'am, The woman just revealed a thief due to a need to survive, and well, you see them now. What are your orders?" Penny just continued to stare at the two of them with cold, impassive eyes, first at Hinako, then at Athjin, then she quickly spoke, this time in her limited continent speech, while again staring into Hinako's eyes. "We'll... Absolve?" Penny was obviously struggling with the continent speak, she wasn't proficient in the language, it was one of the reasons she had selected Edgar as her spotter. However, she continued. "Yes, we'll absolve you. Thief no more if you join us." Edgar, who had a better knack for negotiations then Penny did, jumped over to the soldier that had came with them, quickly shouting out to him in Vershian. "Will you stop pointing that gun at the civilians? Good god, your just making things worse!" The soldier, being the sort that will only follow an intelligent order outside of the battlefield, quickly realized that the gun was just making the natives even more dangerous and quickly lowered the side-loaded automatic so that it was facing the ground. The soldier in the Jeep, however, kept his gun in a ready position with a bullet in the chamber, ready to protect the Major if necessary. After the first soldier stopped waving around, Edgar turned back to the two civilians and explained what Penny had said in further detail. "Alright, fine, so you stole some bread because you were hunted. Considering how you people seem to live based off of our aerial reconnaissance, that isn't particularly heinous. From our flyovers of that Chaos city, those people still have slaves for goodness sakes, so a little bit of stealing to stay alive isn't that bad. Still, Major Penny is offering you absolution of your past crimes in addition to the rest of the offered benefits, so I'd suggest you take the offer. Besides, If things are truly as bad as you say, then you are absolutely correct, I do not in fact have any idea just how bad your poverty is, but the Imperium of Versha have the full intention of finding out how bad it is so that we can save them from that cycle. Consider yourself blessed that we are offering to take you under our protection, that's what I'd do in your situation." Edgar was being frank with Hinako, not at all the airy tone he had been using earlier when he had first met the pair. He was obviously flustered, and the change in tone suggested that he had dropped all pretense and propaganda and had gone into full negotiation mode. Penny, however, was preoccupied with the man with the sword. Primitive as the weapon was, it was still in fact a death dealing weapon unlike the staff Hinako had been wielding. In her usual cold tone, she gave a quick order to Athjin. "Put away knife, and we'll not shoot. You have my word as Imperial Officer that you will not be harmed." Her cold tones were gradually taking on a more polite tone, and she was putting on a small smile with her last words.

(OOC: Just know that I'm sticking in character when you read this post, we already decided on what was happening in advance. ^.^)
Hinako knew her staff wasn't being perceived as a threat. Probably because a staff wasn't a weapon used to inflict death on others, and that became clear when the guns were pointed at Athjin. Hinako said nothing, although she clearly wasn't happy about it. She had just found out that the one beside her was actually on her side, at least for now. Hinako did not drop her stance, and at the first sign of movement she would be ready to take a guess. She hadn't seen a rifle before in her life, but she figured it must have been like a bow and an arrow. It could probably only fire in a straight line. When the woman tried to speak again, Hinako frowned. She could barely get what she was being told, and she wasn't convinced. "I don't just jump into something like that willingly. And if you try to spice up your language, that's not doing anything either!"
Hinako refused to drop her stance. There were still guns aimeds at Athjin, and she wasn't about to melt out of her stance so easily. She responded to Edgars words in an annoyed tone. "And again, you're speculating. I was able to get out for goodness sake. And I've noticed something: Thinking for myself is one of the basic freedoms I didn't have, and will give other people through my own strength. No, no I will not join you. As a former slave, as a theif, as an enemy of two states, I will help people on my own power. If one thirteen-year-old can get out of that damned city, then the other's should be able to too. Understand this: I will not blindly follow orders the way that you expect me to, and I do not take orders from those who look down at us. I can see it in your gaze, you think a staff is a useless weapon. You think Shen's sword is primitive, you think that this entire place is completely in darkness and you are the only ones who can help."
Hinako swung her staff forward, slamming the ground with it, so that the staff was verticle against the ground. The cresent mark showed easily, but Hinako didn't care at this point. This was exactly what Keita had seen before, and she wasn't so willing to let that go so easily. She had trusted him enough to show him her face, but she hadn't trusted him enough to speak up. She wanted to. She craved it. That's why she wanted to be found so desperately. What would a rogue do? A rogue wouldn't be of any help, but Keita might have. She wanted to see that man again, and when she did... Hell, she would slap him.
"Don't involve yourself in our own affairs. I will not raise a hand against my home country, no matter what it is you expect me to do. I won't trade my full freedom for following orders. Besides: I can't be caught."

(Sorry for the long wait..i been a little..umm down...but much better..sorry again)
Athjin looks at his sword then at the people aiming guns at him, that was bother seem, He looks up in the sky and winces as it was still day light, another hour or so, it would be night fall then he wouldn't care about the guns. He smirks as he looks back down and watchs the girl for a moment he some what shakes his head, fool talk. It didn't seem like he was getting asked to join this amry. good he thought. he was hungry anyway, He flips his blade around spinning it around with two of his fingers slighty showing off until the tip hits the opening of the sheath what he then slams the blade in its sheath and places his hands on his hips.
"The blade is gone. Know if you dont mind. I do have a few questions i would like to talk to your commander about.?"
He smirks a toothly grin and some what chuckles waiting to see what his favor get him. maybe he could have a bite to drink. that would be wonderful.

It was a pity that the answer was no, but even if that was her final decision then that was where things would stand. Edgar simply nodded in the affirmative before speaking to Hinako again. "Very well, If that is your final answer then I can't really do much of anything to make you see things our way if you state that we can't see things through your own. However, there is one last thing I should probably do for you, I'll be back in a minute." Edgar then spun around and hurried back to the Jeep to retrieve something.
When Shen put away his weapon like a good boy Penny nodded to the soldier to keep the gun lowered, then she answered Shen's statement. "I am a Major, highest-ranked officer that ever enters into combat normally, so you may talk to me. Don't worry, as the poster woman of the propaganda corps I know our policies better then anyone else. You have heard the message we played during the landing of our forces? That was me talking. Now, what is it that you want to ask about?" Penny was warming up to the language somewhat, and her natural skills as an orator were beginning to return to her voice with her confidence in her language skills. A quick glance towards Hinako and her angered state was soon followed by a bemused smile. Did she want to have the gun pointed at her? "Calm down Ma'am, and we will not have need to shoot either of you. We are no longer pointing guns, so put away walking stick."
It was about this time when Edgar returned with an elongated carrying case and a pair of fliers and a pen retrieved from the van, which he gave to Penny. Penny quickly signed the fliers in a rote manner and gave them back to Edgar, one of which he gave to Hinako, and the other of which he gave to Shen. The fliers were printed in both Versian and continent speak, and had a general map of the continent printed upon the back, with various dots on the back to signify cities. "Show these fliers to the Versian officers at any of the villages marked on the map and they will supply you with rations and medical aid free of charge. I guarantee that they will treat both of you well there." With that, Edgar gave the two of them a curt bow before returning to Penny's side.

Put away the walking stick. Is that what she thought Hinako was carrying? A fire burned in Hinako's green eyes, and once again, she refused to drop her stance. This staff was important to her. It had gotten her out of many tight spots and rough situations, hell, she'd escaped Chaos armed with only that staff of hers. And this woman was looking down on her.
Hinako's reasons for not putting her staff away were her own. She had quite a few problems with mistrusting people. She wasn't about to trust anyone enough to put away her staff so easily, although she let up her stance just a touch. Her knees barely straightened out, although she still held that glare for the woman who had insulted her. In a very serious tone, she responded to the woman with an unamused, "Let me set something straight: Don't. Insult. My. Staff."
When she was handed the flier, she barely touched it. Instead, she took a glance on it and decided she would never use it. She wouldn't have to. She was going to devote her time to finding Keita. She was going to find the time to kick his ass for just leaving her. She was going to break into Chaos and wreck some havoc of her own. She was going to make a nuisance of herself, very, very, very quickly.
Her staff, her masked face which would go unmasked, simply as an insult... The cresent would be allowed to show freely and proudly, and it would let everyone know that the stray dog of a girl who had escaped years before had returned.
Hell was going to break loose. But Hinako had a problem: If she was caught... Then what?
She knew turning to the Versians wasn't an option. She wasn't going to... I won't betray my words.
She turned around, walking in the direction she knew was Chaos, dropping the flier on the ground to show that she was serious. Dead serious. Flipped her hood back over her head, she left behind just the simple words, "I will not join you."
Irony was such a cruel thing.
(OOC: I want to make a point of character development, so I'm going to use the other topic I started. =S Well, I'll pm Grink ze details.)

Athjin smirked sightly and his vision turned to the little girl who had a nice walking stick. "You speak highly of that piece of wood, Or is it just a friend, who cant talk." He clicks his tongue and then turns to face penny, His hands go into his jacket pockets and scans her over once again, so she was in charge, interesting a women in that high of ranks, She seemed strong, looked nice for a change most women he new and came across where nothing but pieces of trash, or maybe that was just his ego talking. He was alive way to long for his own good.
"Ah excellent, seems i dont have to walk as far as i was thinking to talk to a commander. Of your group. Oh yes, i do have some good questions for you. Some what may question what your really fighting for and what you beleive in or maybe it'll just be a nightmare what comes true. Let me ask you something, this is to all of your men around you. Do you beleave in the legend of a higher up race then Humans, Not demons but something more fear full?"
His voice was calm and he seemed tob be trying to come off way to nice. odd for him. but was it?
