Name:Penny Derris
Gender: Female
HUMAN
Inhabitance: Versha
Age: 29
Rank: Major, Sniper Corps
Appearance:
Penny is the golden child of the Sniper Corps, perfect in every way that the military would want her, and she and her image is often used for propaganda purposes throughout the Empire. She has Blond Hair, Brown eyes, and she wears her uniform to perfection whenever at inspection. Her cold stare, gained from the ruthlessness she employs upon the battlefield, is placed upon both fellow soldiers at inspection and the enemy alike, but her cold disposition quickly melts away when she is asked to pose or perform for propaganda purposes. At these times, she places upon herself the perfect facade of whatever emotion is required for her, whether she is to act mournful due to the death of a statesman, or flirtatious for recruitment posters, or happy during a R&R visit back to the heartland of the empire. When she leaves these situations, however, her cold demeanor and stare returns, and woe be to the soldier placed within her sights. Her only fluke, the one thing that stands between her and absolute perfection, are the pointed ears that she inherited as a genetic recessive from a Demon who had come to the lands of Versha many generations ago, and who had offspring that would eventually lead to herself. To many, however, her pointed ears are not a sign of imperfection, but instead to them they impart a sense of exoticism, which helps grant further fascination with her among the people of her land. To Penny, they simply account for a slightly enhanced sense of hearing that had proven very useful on previous battlefields.
Personality: Penny was brought up to be the best at whatever she decided to apply herself to, so her determination to succeed at whatever endeavor she chooses far outstrips whatever patience she has for those who do not apply themselves and follow orders. This, combined with her treatment by the Versha Empire, has caused her to develop an arrogance about her that often is shown in her battle orders. While this has never been proven in front of a higher-ranked officer without them brushing it off as Penny's drive to succeed being used on others, there are rumors that she has ordered members of her squad to perform seemingly impossible tasks, such as to kill multiple targets placed about the urban battlefields that are commonplace when dealing with the Gangs of the empire within an hour, although the soldiers have to admit that no task she has given them so far was completely impossible. One such interviewed lad had this to say about working under Penny. "No matter the circumstance, she demands nothing less then excellence from her troops, and as such she demands that they show that excellence under orders that seem impossible. Well, I'm proud to say that I haven't failed Penny yet."
When Penny is tasked to perform one of numerous propaganda duties, she first asks, "What is the assignment?" Then, her second question is "How shall I act?" The final question she asks before embarking on whatever duties were assigned her by the propaganda division of the Imperial government is "How can I make this role better then they thought about before?" Then, after those questions are answered, she performs to the best of her abilities, no matter what the duty may be, anything from something as simple as a pose for a photo, to as lewd and taxing as posing for the Army's Swimsuit edition of their monthly newsletter, with whatever emotion would work best. After her public appearance, her Icy demeanor always returns, and it is back to business as usual within her division's ranks.
History: Penny Derris was born in the year 2167 Versha Calender, 00 AD Trinity standard, to a wealthy construction tycoon who had made his money creating botanical gardens inside his hotels, providing a rare glimpse of plant life that hadn't been killed by the oppressive smog and gases that were ambiently making their way all of Versha. Penny always found the greatest enjoyment of her early years not in these botanical gardens, however, but instead within the arena of the local Lazer Tag building, where she quickly found in herself a liking of sharpshooter attacks fired from the places the others couldn't reach. She was so proud of these "tags" that in later years she focused exclusively on mastering these longer-ranged kills.
At the age of twenty Penny joined the Versha Army regulars as a ranged-support specialist, but she would not gain her sniper rifle until her third year in the army. When she was twenty three, Penny proved herself during a gang suppression by taking out every single leader of the gangs involved at varied ranges using only an assault rifle. For her excellence in sharpshooting, she was given an official sniper rifle, was promoted to Sergent, and was sent to the sniper school in The Black City, where she quickly distinguished herself as a natural sharpshooter and an excellent student. Four years later, Penny graduated from the most elite sniping school in the entire country and colonies of Versha at the top of her class, whereupon she was promoted to Major Penny Derris, and shortly thereafter she was approached by Lolzcat Inc., a firm specializing in the manufacturing of weapons, which were considered the highest quality in almost every category, in addition they also manufactured Coffee mugs that sported furry animals and horrible grammar. When she was asked to perform Beta-tests of the new weaponry and gear they had developed, Penny snapped up the opportunity, spending two years performing military testing before the invasion of the new continent was announced.
When the troops were called up to engage in the conflict, Penny dutifully signed up for another tour of duty, and so she was assigned to the elite 5th Sniper Division, which had distinguished itself with the reputation of rapidly destroying the enemy chain of command before the enemy forces were even engaged. Although the newest member of the team, praise was being constantly lavished upon Penny for her skills with her rifle, along with her ability to nearly always successfully guess an enemies next move, allowing for simpler disposal of targets. Penny had proven her skills against the gang warfare that had engulfed entire regions of the Versha Nation, so now the next step was to conquer the savages that stood in her nation's way.
